Privacy Policy

MenuMargin is a food cost calculator for small food businesses, operated by Small Dev Shop Inc ("we", "us"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use menumargin.app, why we collect it, and how you can control it.

Account data

• Email address and password (handled by our authentication provider; we never see your password in plaintext)
• Account creation timestamp and last sign-in time

Content you create

• Ingredients (name, price, unit)
• Recipes (name, servings, target food cost percentage, ingredient quantities)
• Settings such as your target food cost percent

This content is private to your account. We do not read, share, or publish your recipes.

Billing data

• Stripe customer ID and subscription status (stored in our database)
• Current period end date (used to gate Pro features)

We do not store your credit card number, CVC, or full billing address. Stripe handles all payment data directly on their PCI-compliant infrastructure.

Usage and diagnostic data

• Page views, button clicks, and feature usage (for product improvement)
• Errors and crash reports (for debugging)
• Approximate IP-derived location, browser type, and device type

• To provide the food cost calculator and save your recipes
• To process subscription payments and enforce plan limits
• To send transactional emails (welcome, billing, password reset)
• To fix bugs, monitor performance, and improve the product
• To detect and prevent fraud or abuse
• To comply with legal obligations

We do not use your data to train AI models. We do not sell your data to anyone. We do not run advertising on MenuMargin.

To run MenuMargin we rely on a small set of vendors. Each only receives the data needed to do their job:

• Supabase — authentication and database hosting (stores your account, recipes, and ingredients)
• Stripe — payment processing and subscription management
• Resend — delivery of transactional emails
• Datadog — error tracking, performance monitoring, and product analytics
• Vercel — application hosting and content delivery

• Account and recipe data: kept while your account is open. Deleted on request or when you delete your account.
• Billing records: kept for up to 7 years to comply with tax and accounting law.
• Diagnostic logs: retained up to 30 days.

You can:

• Access a copy of your data
• Correct or update your account details
• Delete your account and associated data
• Export your recipes and ingredients

If you are in the EU/EEA, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA/CPRA, including the right to object to processing and the right to data portability. To exercise any right, email support@menumargin.app.

We use a small number of cookies strictly necessary for the service: authentication cookies to keep you signed in, and a session cookie for security. We do not run advertising trackers or third-party cookies.

All traffic is served over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider. Database access is restricted and audited. No internet service is perfectly secure — if you suspect a problem, email support@menumargin.app right away.

MenuMargin is not designed for anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy as the product evolves. If the changes are material, we will notify signed-in users by email or an in-app banner before they take effect.
